Tiger
Army back in studio! The band has returned home from the
first leg of their fall tour with Rancid -- the tour was great, thanks
to Rancid and all the people who came out to the shows! After
Thanksgiving and a few days rest, Tiger Army is now back in the
recording studio, working on the new album, III: Ghost
Tigers Rise due out in late April, 2004 on Hellcat Records!
More shows in December! Tiger
Army will leave the studio to play five more dates with Rancid in the
Southwestern U.S. this month: San Diego CA, Phoenix AZ, Albuquerque NM,
Denver CO, and Salt Lake City UT! Check out the Tourdates section for more
info... These are the last planned live dates for the year. After the
December shows and a short break for the holidays the band will
continue working on the album in January. No tour plans are confirmed
yet for next year, but the band plans on a full-scale return to the
road after the new album is completed! That's all for now, we'll see
some of you at the shows this month -- Stay Psycho!

Tiger Army on tour now! The
band's just begun their fall tour with Rancid and reports that all's
going very well so far! This tour marks Tiger Army's first time on the
road in a year, don't miss it! Check out the Tourdates
section for info on where and when the shows are happening!
Studio Update... Tiger Army
spent the month of October in the recording studio, laying down tracks
for the forthcoming album III: Ghost Tigers Rise.
Work on the album is on hold while the band takes a break from the
studio to play live dates -- more work on the record is planned for
December and into January. The album is scheduled for release in late
April '04 on Hellcat Records... Nick 13 reports that the material
recorded so far is sounding great, but the band faced a tough situation
early on in the recording: when the band entered the studio, they
realized that drummer Fred Hell hadn't recovered from his injuries
(related to his shooting in March) as completely as they'd hoped;
subtle but important problems created difficulties in the tracking of
the drums. The band reluctantly came to the decision to ask friend Mike
Fasano (an expert drum tech who'd worked on all the previous albums) to
play drums on the record, which he did (very well, we might add).
Fred's presence and consultation during tracking insured that the
arrangements and his style remained intact, and the songs sound great.
Fred's live playing sounds better than ever, as you can hear for
yourself if you check out the current tour!
The e-mail list is back! After
no mailings for a long, long time due to technical difficulties, we've
got the Tiger Army e-mail list up & running again! If you
haven't signed up yet but would like to receive occasional updates
about what the band's up to, tourdates, new releases, etc., go to the Frontpage and enter your e-mail
address, it's easy! That's it for now, check back soon as always and
we'll see you at the shows!

Tiger Army on tour this fall
with Rancid! Returning to the road for the first time
since late 2002, Tiger Army will tour with none other than the
legendary Rancid! We don't have all the details yet, but here's what we
know for sure: Tiger Army will play approximately 20 shows with Rancid
to take place between November 5th and December 21st, 2003. The tour

Fred Hell speaks! We are pleased to announce that a new interview with
Tiger Army drummer Fred Hell done exclusively for Tigerarmy.com is now
up in the Info section.
Fred speaks publically for the first time on what happened with the
shooting, how he's doing, and the latest on what Tiger Army's up to --
check it out!
A number of new items have just been added to the Tiger Army webstore!
Much of this new merchandise is tour stock not available in any
store... Some of the designs/items will be kept in print, but many have
been discontinued -- when the stock on hand is gone that's it! There
are several shirt designs (guys & gals), patches, buttons,
stickers, CD's and more! By the way, all orders for the webstore are
handled directly by Cinder Block -- the band no longer handles shipping
so tours, recording, etc. will not affect shipping time in any way. Go
to the link for the Tiger Army webstore by Cinder Block at the Merchandise section of this page!
A new live photo set is up at the Photos
section -- we know there are more live and tattoo pics out there, so do
us a favor and send 'em in (see Photos
pages for details)!
That's it for now, check back soon for more Tiger Army news &
site updates!

Tiger Army rides again! The band recently resumed practicing as a whole
for the first time since the shooting of drummer Fred Hell in March.
Fred's body is still on the mend, but he's sounding better than ever
behind the drum kit! The band's picked up where they left off --
practicing new material for the yet-to-be-recorded next album,
including several new songs written by Nick 13 since March. Tiger Army
will now spend most of this summer in the practice room, preparing to
start tracking the next album in a few months time. No live gigs are
planned until the new album's completion, but the band is working away
behind the scenes to return stronger than before!
Tiger Army now has a webstore done though Cinder Block merchandise --
check out the link at the Merchandise
section of this site! An all-new guy's shirt and a newer gal's tee are
now available for the first time online! More items will be coming to
the webstore soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
A couple of new links to recent interviews have been added to the Info page, as well as some broken
links repaired. The exclusive interview with Fred Hell for
Tigerarmy.com is coming soon along with more new stuff, so don't be a
stranger!

Not a whole lot to report this time, just wanted to give everyone an
update on Tiger Army drummer Fred Hell -- Fred's recovery is going
amazingly well, he's been seen out and about in LA and is playing the
drums at home everyday! Tiger Army will most likely resume practicing
towards the end of June, at which point they'll continue working on new
songs in order to enter the studio later this year to record the new
full-length album! The events of this year have delayed the timeframe
for the new album's release to some extent --more about a release date
will be known once a date has been set to begin recording. Thanks so
much for your support during what has been a difficult year so far,
Tiger Army WILL be back!
A couple of new interview links have been added to the Info section. More page updates
are in the works (don't forget to send in live and tattoo pics!) so
check back soon...

Tigerarmy.com has just been updated (although refinements are being
made all the time)! A new interview with Tiger Army bassist Geoff
Kresge done exclusively for this site has just been posted in the Info section, check it out for a
rare in-depth discussion with the man behind the stand-up! The Photos section has also been
updated, with new shots added to all the subsections: there are new
live sets, more tattoo photos and more promo sets, including a
behind-the-scenes look at the "Incorporeal" video shoot!
As for as the band itself, Fred Hell's recovery from being shot on
March 10th continues to go well -- thanks to everyone for their
concern. Fred's looking & feeling better everyday and the band
hopes to return to practicing within a few months time. Nick 13 reports
that songwriting for Tiger Army III (the working
title of the next studio album) also continues to go well: "We're all
anxious to get in the studio, but the extra time for writing is going
to make it an even better album!"
That's all the news for now, please send in your TA tattoo pics and
live shots of the band if you've got 'em, and check back soon for more
news and updates!

Hello and welcome to the fully revamped version of the official Tiger
Army website! It's been a long time coming, but the site's finally
received a complete overhaul and there's plenty of new content to go
along with the new look! Some of the highlights: the Photos section has been fully
redone with all-new pictures, including a new Tattoo gallery and a
section for promo shots (please send in your live pics and tattoos!).
The Info page has some new
interviews, including one with Nick 13 done exclusively for
Tigerarmy.com -- it'll bring you up to date on what's happening with
the next album and Fred Hell's situation (see news items below).
Another new feature is the Videos
section, they're all in one place now and can be viewed with either low
or high-speed connections!
Today was especially chosen to unveil the new website because it marks
seven years of American Psychobilly -- Tiger Army played its first gig
in Berkeley, California on this date in 1996 (it's hard to believe it's
already been that long)! In this time, the band has gone from releasing
a seven-inch and playing shows only in Northern California to having
three CD releases and having played all over the world! All the while
Tiger Army has remained true to its original vision, still playing a
unique style of psychobilly and promoting the subculture, sound and way
of life as they have since day one, regardless of trends!
Thanks to all who've supported Tiger Army in the last seven years,
here's to another seven! Very special thanks to those who've sent cards
and letters for Fred, it is much appreciated. We hope you like the new
site! Check back soon -- more new stuff is on the way. Stay psycho, and
remember -- TIGER ARMY NEVER DIES!!!

Just wanted to provide everyone with an update on Fred Hell's condition
after being shot four times last week (see previous news item). Fred
was released from the hospital on the afternoon of Friday, March 14th
and is now resting at home. So far his recovery has been going
extremely well, he looks better every day and he's even doing some
walking around the house! It will take time, but it is our hope that he
will eventually make a full recovery. Thanks to all the people around
the world who've expressed their sympathy, solidarity and support, it's
meant a lot to Fred & the rest of the band and made a very
difficult time a little easier. Keep the cards and letters coming!

As some
of you may have heard, Tiger Army drummer Fred Hell was hospitalized on
the night of Monday, March 10th after being shot four times. He was at
a friend's apartment in Chino, CA when two men with guns entered the
apartment in what was apparently a home invasion robbery. The events
that follow are confused, but after a struggle Fred attempted to flee
to safety while one of the perpetrators shot at him from behind in an
act of extreme cowardice. Fred was found in a parking lot, hit once in
the head, once in the chest and twice in the butt. He was airlifted by
helicopter to a nearby hospital where he received multiple surgeries.
His condition has stabilized and he was moved out of the intensive care
unit Wednesday afternoon but he's still in the hospital at the current
time. Amazingly, he's in good spirits, can speak and can move and feel
his arms, legs, hands and toes -- thankfully his mind and memory appear
to be okay. Anyone who's ever met Fred can attest that he's the nicest
guy you'll ever meet and the last person who deserved to fall victim to
such an act.
Fred has
a long road ahead to recovery but he's a fighter and he'll make it.
Please keep his health in your thoughts or prayers. If you'd like to
send him a card or a letter, we're sure it would mean a lot to him. The
address:
Get Well Fred Hell
c/o Tiger Army
P.O. Box 29880
Los Angeles, CA 90029-0880
We'll
keep you updated as to how he's doing. We're still in shock from this
terrible event. Thanks to everyone for their love and support -- Get
well soon Fred! TxAxNxDx

Hello
everyone, it's been awhile! Since the last news update, Tiger Army did
a short German tour in late November (thanks to all the psychos and
other subculture kids who came out to the shows and a big hello to
everyone we met!) and played a show with Social Distortion in Orange
County in January -- both were a lot of fun! The German tour
represented the end of a seventeen-month touring cycle that began in
June, 2001 shortly before the release of the Power of Moonlite
album. Since December the band has been enjoying a well-deserved break
from the road! A belated Happy New Year to everyone and thanks to all
of you for your support in 2002!
So, what's happening now? Tiger Army's been spending some time in the
rehearsal space, working out new songs for the next record. Nick 13
estimates that about half the material for the third Tiger Army
full-length has been written so far. No date has been set yet to enter
the studio, but current projections are that recording will begin
sometime in the spring and that Tiger Army III (the
working title) will hopefully be released this fall. We'll keep you
updated on the process. No live gigs are planned for the time being as
the band focuses on writing/rehearsing/getting ready to record.
The Gig Archive has
been updated... more updates for the site have been delayed but are
still planned for the near future! One new feature to be added soon is
a Tattoo section. If you have a Tiger Army-related tattoo, please send
a clear photo (with your name and the artist's name if you wish) to the
band's PO Box:
Tiger Army
P.O. Box 29880
Los Angeles, CA 90029-0880
Please send them even if you think we've
got them, the ones we take on the road never turn out! That's all for
now, check back soon for more news, TxAxNxDx!!!
